(1) The question of dowry does not arise in case of free choice marriage because neither parents nor any middle man come into picture here as they choose their partner themselves. They’re not forced into a dating scene or mandated to defend their values to someone. Although choice is limited when an arranged marriage occurs, the individuals involved are left with fewer questions. It may be accepted by the family member but sometimes it may not. It eliminates the stress of trying to find a life partner. This form of arranged marriage is still used today in third-world countries. One of the benefit is that it enjoys the support of familyand secondly, it also have lower divorce rate while the drawbacks of arrange marriage is, marital unhappiness. Neither the bride nor the groom has a choice in whether they marry the chosen spouse. Therefore in my research paper, I will discuss why there is both benefit and drawback of having an arrange marriage. Forced marriages are when a third party member forces the bride and groom to marry. In most cases it is a marriage between the group of people belonging to different race, nationality religion, caste etc. Risk of incompatability is diminished: Arranged marriages presuppose that two people are perfectly matched because they belong to the same culture, share the same religious upbringing, speak the same language, and raised in more or less the same socio-economic class. Another disadvantage to arranged marriages is forced marriages. In this type of marriage neither the father nor any of the relations of the bride have any role to play. It eliminates the stress of trying to find a life partner. It is brought about by the mutual love and consent of the bride and the groom. However, romantic love has not been a primary motive for matrimony in most areas and the person whom it is considered permissible to marry has historically been carefully regulated by most societies.įree choice marriage otherwise known love marriage has become a common feature of the present day society.
